E.ON Next cuts overnight home charging to 6.5p/kWh
Next Drive Smart offers six hours of cheaper electricity each night, with a compatible car, charger and smart meter required.

E.ON Next has cut the overnight electricity rate on Next Drive Smart to 6.5p/kWh, giving eligible households a six-hour window from midnight to 6am. The supplier announced the reduction on 27 October; the price is also listed on its current tariff page.
The cheaper overnight rate covers the whole home, including EV charging. It is fixed for 12 months, and the tariff has no exit fee. Customers need a smart meter with consent for half-hourly readings, plus an eligible electric vehicle and charger to use the smart charging service.
Next Drive, the supplier’s separate fixed EV tariff, offers an overnight rate of 8.5p/kWh for the same midnight-to-6am period. It also fixes prices for a year and has no exit fee.
The headline night price is only part of the comparison for a household. Daytime electricity and the standing charge still contribute to the bill, while boost charging or charging outside the smart service during peak hours attracts the peak rate. Drivers considering the smart tariff should check their car and charger against E.ON Next’s compatibility requirements before switching.
