E.ON takes over four fast-charging hubs in northern Italy
The Smatrics EnBW Italia acquisition brings 64 high-power charging points into E.ON’s network along major cross-border routes.

E.ON Drive Infrastructure Italy has acquired Smatrics EnBW Italia, adding four operating fast-charging hubs and 64 charging points to its network in northern Italy.
The sites are in Bressanone-Vahrn in South Tyrol, Palmanova in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Gruaro in Veneto and Trezzo sull’Adda in Lombardy. Watson Farley & Williams, which advised E.ON on the transaction, confirmed the acquisition and the size of the portfolio.
The locations serve the Scandinavian–Mediterranean and Mediterranean transport corridors. Bressanone-Vahrn sits on the Brenner route, making the group particularly relevant to drivers travelling between Italy and its northern neighbours.
These are existing, operational sites changing ownership rather than 64 newly opened charging points. Their inclusion expands E.ON’s presence on those routes without requiring drivers to wait for an entirely new hub to be built.
According to electrive’s reporting, Smatrics EnBW is withdrawing from operating its own Italian network to concentrate resources on Austria. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
The portfolio comprises 20 charging points at Bressanone-Vahrn, 12 at Palmanova and 16 each at Gruaro and Trezzo sull’Adda, according to electrive.
