Tesla plans to wind down Cybertruck production at Gigafactory Texas around the middle of 2027, Elon Musk said on 6 November. The factory space will be used to increase production of the Cybercab robotaxi.

The announcement concerns the Texas production line. Musk did not say whether Cybertruck assembly would move to another factory or end altogether, and gave no precise date for the final truck to be built there.

Cybertruck customer deliveries began in late 2023. The stainless-steel pickup was a departure from Tesla’s car and SUV range, but its commercial performance has been difficult to track precisely: Tesla groups its deliveries with other models rather than publishing a separate Cybertruck total.

The decision gives Tesla’s purpose-built robotaxi priority over the pickup for manufacturing space in Texas. It also leaves prospective Cybertruck buyers awaiting further details about the model’s production beyond next year. Musk’s statement sets out a factory plan; it does not announce an immediate halt to production or explain how outstanding orders will be handled.
